As many as 2,000 non-government educational institutions will be brought under the Monthly Payment Order (MPO) facility soon, says Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni.
“We have got 9,000 applications from different educational institutions through online and of those 2,000 have been finalised for bringing under MPO process in phases,” she told the House on Sunday (Feb 17).
In reply to a question from opposition lawmaker Peer Habibur Rahman, Dipu Moni said the MPO-affiliations of the non-government educational institutions would come into effect within the shortest possible time after getting finance ministry’s nod.
Earlier the authorities concerned under the MPO Policy-2018 sought applications from different educational institutions, mentioned the minister.
Replying to another query from lawmaker Mahfuzur Rahman of Chattrogram-3, Dipu Moni said a total of 1,624 private educational institutions have been brought under the MPO facility since 2009.
“The government is working in line with the National Education Policy-2010 and as part of it the primary education level till class-VIII and secondary level from class-IX to class-XII will be implemented in phases,” she said responding to the questions from opposition lawmakers Syed Abu Hossain of Dhaka-4 and Asim Kumar Ukil of Netrokona-3.
