“There have been quite a number of border killings recently,” he told the media on Thursday (Feb 7).
He added that although Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and India’s Border Security Forces (BSF) met over the meeting, a high-level meeting will be held to address the issue.
“The meeting might take place on director general level.”
“Bangladesh believes in a zero-killing policy at the border,” he said, adding, he is hopeful that dialogue will be enough to resolve the matter.
The minister said that BGB patrols at the border outposts in the remote areas have also been increased.
Responding to queries about a fresh round of Rohingyas entering Bangladesh, he said, “Most of the news I heard isn’t legit.”
He added that nonetheless BGB patrols have been increased at the border and the government is on full alert on the matter.
