Visiting USAID Administrator Mark Andrew Green speaking at American Club in Dhaka on Thursday.Washington wants a long-term solution to the Rohingya crisis by addressing its root cause, says visiting USAID Administrator Mark Andrew Green.
His remarks came on Thursday while speaking at a discussion at American Club in Dhaka. “While humanitarian aid helps to relieve sufferings, we must also focus on root causes of the conflict on a long-term solution.”
Green, who arrived Dhaka on May 14, has travelled to Cox’s Bazar to see the plight of Rohingyas.
“I am here on behalf of Secretary (of State) Mike Pompeo to listen, to learn and take back observation and how the United States can help to end the crisis,” he said.
Green has flew for Myanmar on Thursday.
“I am calling on the government of Burma to do its part. It includes immediately ending the violence in Rakhine and other conflict states, restoring rule of law, immediately granting access to all those who are in need, facilitating safe and voluntary return of refugees to their homes, allowing media access throughout the country and addressing the harsh discrimination which is the root cause of the crisis.”
