Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed sorrow at the death of prominent lyricist, music director Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul, who was also a freedom fighter.

Ashraful Alam Khokan, Deputy Press Secretary to the prime minister said that the premier conveyed deepest sympathy to the bereaved family and prayed for salvation of the departed soul.

Bulbul, aged 63, breathed his last during early hours on Tuesday (Jan 22) at his own residence in Dhaka's Aftabnagar area.


Singer Dinat Jahan Munni said that Bulbul was taken to Mahakhali's Universal Medical College Hospital when his health deteriorated around 4am on Tuesday.

Emergency unit doctors in the hospital pronounced him dead, she added.
