Acting Chief Justice Md Abdul Wahhab Miah resumes the Appellate Division’s session at 9 am on Tuesday after taking charge temporarily from Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha. On Tuesday, the Appellate Division started its activities after 39 days of vacation.
Earlier on Monday, Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha sought for a leave on health grounds to the President for a month. He sent an application to the President about 3 pm on Monday. According to article 97 of the Constitution, President has appointed Justice Wahhab Miah as Acting Chief Justice as the Chief Justice is on leave.
The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court began its session at 9:05 am on Tuesday with a five-member bench led by Justice Miah.
A five-member bench of Appellate Division began its judicial proceedings on Tuesday led by Justice Abdul Wahhab Miah. The other members of the bench were Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, Justice Muhammad Imman Ali, Justice Hasan Foez Siddique and Justice Mirza Hussain Haider.
Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha was appointed as the chief justice of the Supreme Court on January 17, 2015.
