On his last day in office, former education minister Nurul Islam Nahid expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the ministry and its officials.
“I owe my achievements to all of you,” he said during his farewell on Monday (Jan 7).
Nahid said that the prime minister has given him more credit than he deserved and for that he was grateful.
“There have been radical changes in the education system in the last 10 years,” he said, adding, that education has been modernised and digitalised.
Calling on the ministry officials to cooperate with his successor, Nahid said “Dr Dipu Moni is an experienced, learned person. She will continue the stream of success of the last 10 years.”
The former minister talked about the achievements of his office, saying that equality in the admission of boys and girls in the primary level has been achieved.
The Secondary and Higher Education Division Secretary Md. Sohorab Hossain said that he had never had a disagreement with Nahid during his term in office.
“Bangladesh has become the best in four sectors and two of those are part of the education ministry,” he added.
He said that primary education had played a part in Bangladesh achieving gender equality in the secondary level.
