Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad has congratulated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury for their win the general elections.
Ershad’s Political Affairs Secretary Suni Shubho Rai told Bangla Tribune that he conveyed his hearty congratulations to PM Hasina on Saturday (Dec 5) for being elected a parliamentary leader for the fourth time.
“Sheikh Hasina’s achievement is not only rare in the history of Bangladesh but in the whole world,” the former military dictator said in his message.
He hoped that the flow of development will strengthen under the PM’s leadership and that JP will forever be of assistance to the government.
Ershad also conveyed his felicitations to Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury for taking on the role of Speaker in the 11th National Parliament once more.
He hoped that like always, the Speaker will continue conducting the parliamentary sessions with extraordinary dexterity and impartiality.
HM Ershad, who had served as the PM’s special envoy to the, said in a statement on Friday (Jan 4) that his party will be taking on the role of opposition in the House and that none of the 22 JP lawmakers will be part of the new Cabinet.
