Human Rights Commission of Bangladesh Chairman Kazi Reazul Hoque feels the need for research to ascertain the reasons for the huge discrepancy between victory and defeat at the eleven national parliamentary elections.
He made the call at the press conference held at the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) office on Tuesday.
The NHRC has received 52 complaints during the 11th Parliamentary Election, he said, adding, that most of these are related to intimidation, prevention from casting votes etc.
Saying that compared to previous elections, this time violence has been minimum, he added, “We are gathering information about those who were killed as a result of polls violence and, based on the findings, will give letters to the Election Commission.” “I saw Jatiya Oikya Front agents in some centres, whereas they were absent in others,” said Reazul Huq.
He also said that the commission will look into the accusations of assault on journalists during elections.
