Cold waves likely to hit in late December

If temperature falls between 8 and 10 degree Celsius, it’s considered a mild cold wave while temperature between 6 and 8 degree Celsius stands for moderate cold wave and below 6 degree Celsius for heavy cold waveMeteorologists have forecast cold waves to hit parts of the country in late December.
“One or more mild to moderate cold waves may sweep over the northern, northwestern and middle regions of the country in the last week of December,” Director General of Bangladesh Metrology Department Shamsuddin Ahmed told Bangla Tribune.
If the temperature falls between 8 and 10 degree Celsius, it’s considered a mild cold wave while temperature between 6 and 8 degree Celsius stands for moderate cold wave and below 6 degree Celsius for the heavy cold wave.
According to the Met office outlook for December, rainfall may hit the country as seasonal low may turn into a depression in the Bay of Bengal.
Dense fog may occur in the river banks and their adjoining areas from night to morning throughout the month.
Night temperature may fall in the last fortnight.
Meanwhile, Thursday’s met office bulletin said that moderate to thick fog may occur at places over the country from midnight to Friday (Dec 21) morning.
Night temperature may fall slightly and day temperature may rise slightly over the country.
Weather may remain dry with partly cloudy sky over the country, it added.
Sub-continental high extends up to West Bengal and adjoining area. Seasonal low lies over South Bay extending its trough to North Bay.
Wednesday’s maximum temperature was recorded at 27.3 degree Celsius in Sitakunda while maximum at 10.4 degree Celsius in Dinajpur and Tetulia.
