Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda. The whole country is abuzz with a festive polls atmosphere, said Chief Election Commissioner Nurul Huda.
“The people and candidates are excited about the upcoming elections,” he said during an inauguration program of the Election Management System (EMS), Candidate Information Management System (CIMS) and Result Management System (RMS) on Thursday (Dec 20).
“We can see that the candidates are also eagerly carrying out their polls campaign and rallies. The election excitement is in the air!” he added.
He expressed confidence that the upcoming Dec 30 polls will be completely free and fair and told the trainees that they play a huge role in ensuring that.
“We have been working towards the Dec 30 polls for the last one year. It’s on you to ensure that no mistake on your part ruins our year long hard work,” he said addressing the trainees.
The CEC further told the trainees that the votes are ‘deposits’ of the people it’s their duty to protect the people’s franchises.
Huda also talked about the 122 Electoral Inquiry Committee formed to take care of any rule violation or untoward activity related to the polls.
He said that judicial magistrates will be there to supervise or take complaints from candidates and their supporters for four days. They have the authority to rectify the mistakes as well as judge them.
The CEC requested that instead of filing complaints with the commission directly, the concerned individuals should file it with the returning officers or the Electoral Inquiry Committee immediately so that they can get instant results.
