Bandarban will be tourism role model: Hasina

Prime Minister Sheikh HasinaAwami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has pledged to turn the hill tract district of Bandarban to a “role model for tourism and development.”
“Bandarban is a treasure-trove of natural beauty and if we come to power, we will work to develop it and the surrounding hill tract areas,” she said during a polls campaign video conference to Bandarban on Tuesday (Dec 18).
“Bangladesh will be on the list of developed countries by 2041. Vote for ‘boat’ and convey my message to the rest of the Bandarban residents,” she said while asking people to help Awami League emerge victorious in the upcoming Dec 30 polls.
She said that her party was working on a long term plan for the development of Bandarban and the hill tract areas.
“We have established higher education system in the hilly areas as well as established a science and technology university in Rangamati. The progress shall continue.”
Hasina said that her government has brought down the poverty rate from 41 percent to 21.8 percent and is still working to ensure that the hospitals are upgraded and able to provide better treatment in the future.
True to AL’s manifesto she said that if they come to office the youth will be able to draw interest free loans up until Tk 200, 000 and also highlighted the AL regime’s achievement in ensuring that the youth have more job opportunities.
“In 2071, the future generation will celebrate 100 years of Bangladesh and for that they have all my best wishes.”
