Over a thousand platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed across the country including the capital aimed at maintaining law and order ahead of the upcoming national election slated on Dec 30.
A total of 1016 platoons of BGB officers will keep order on the streets along with police and other law enforcement agencies, said the border force spokesperson Muhammad Mohsin Reza.
“BGB are being deployed from today (Tuesday, Dec 18) and the deployment will be completed by the end of the day,” he said adding, “They will remain deployed for as long as the Election Commission (EC) deem necessary.”
According to EC sources, the Army will be deployed throughout the country for ten days from Dec 24 to Jan 2. The army, to be tasked with helping the civil administration, will work in coordination with the returning officers.
