Awami League (AL) urged the Election Commission (EC) to take stern action against the attackers.
A delegation of AL, led by Co-Chairman of Election Managing Committee of the party HT Imam, met with EC and demanded taking all necessary action after identifying them, reports state news agency BSS.
“Law enforcement agencies are now at under Election Commission. We urged the commission to identify the attackers and to take action against them,” said HT Imam after the meeting on Wednesday (Dec 12).
Miscreants are attacking election campaigners, he said adding, “The commission should take prompt action against such incidents as these types of attacks on workers and supporters will hamper peaceful atmosphere of the national polls.”
“It is our responsibility to ensure peaceful environment during election,” Imam quoted EC as saying.
Imam said the delegation demanded to the EC not to allow four election monitoring organizations as they have linked to the political parties.
The four election monitoring groups are- Democracy Watch, Khan Foundation, Light House and Bangladesh Human Rights Coordination Parishad.
