Bangladesh now hosts over 1 million Rohingyas after the latest exodus. REUTERSThe 45th Council of Foreign Ministers’ meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has adopted the Dhaka Declaration highlighting the Rohingya crisis.
After a two-day debate, the declaration was adopted at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka with Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali in the chair.
The declaration said, “We expressed deep concern over the recent systematic brutal acts perpetrated by security forces against the Rohingya Muslim community in Myanmar that has reached the level of ethnic cleansing.”
OIC also reaffirmed its full solidarity with Bangladesh in the face of the Rohingya influx with its humanitarian and security consequences of the country and with the Rohingyas, victims of the state-backed violence in Myanmar.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam said Gambia and Bangladesh put forward the Rohingya resolution to work together with UN agencies and other international bodies to bring the perpetrators to justice.
OIC Secretary General Youssef A Al-Othaiman said Rohingya issue would be discussed again and again.
“It is not a religious issue rather, it is a humanitarian and human rights issue,” he said.
Ministerial panel on Rohingya crisis
Gambia put forward a proposal to set up an ad hoc ministerial committee to address the accountability issue for the violations of human rights against the Rohingyas.
Fleeing Rohingyas have reported killings, rapes and arson on a large scale. REUTERSThe proposal was discussed in the special session on Rohingya Sunday morning and it was later anonymously adopted.
The declaration stipulated that “We welcome the resolution adopted on the situation of the Rohingya community of Myanmar and in this regard, agree to address the accountability issue for the violations of human rights against the Rohingyas in Myanmar through formation of an ad hoc ministerial committee, to be chaired by Gambia.”
