The Election Commission (EC) has rejected Ganajagaran Mancha spokesperson Imran H Sarker’s nomination after hearing an appeal against its initial rejection by concerned returning officer.

The EC declared his nomination papers invalid on Friday (Dec 7).

Sarker filed his nomination for Kurigram-4 constituency as an independent candidate.

Sarker will move the High Court on Saturday (Dec 8) challenging EC’s decision, Bangla Tribune’s Kurigram correspondent quoted Sarker’s cousin Abdullah Al Mamun as saying.

Earlier on Dec 2, Kurigram district Returning Officer Sultana Parvin rescinded his nomination on grounds of his erroneous supporter list.

Imran H Sarker announced to contest the upcoming general election from his native Kurigram as an independent candidate.
