Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan has urged everyone to refrain from posting any status on social networking sites without knowing the truth.
“Rumor is like a matchbox. A devastating fire can be originated from a single stick and rumour works like the same way, which also can destroy the social and political stability of a country,” he said before adding that stern actions will be taken against rumour mongers.
His remarks came on Thursday at the launching of an awareness advertisement (TVC) on anti-rumour with the slogan ‘Stop Lies, Know the Truth’ at of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) media centre in Dhaka.
“We are witnessing a time when people can easily be involved in spreading rumours which are criminal offences. Those who are involved in it will be identified,” he added.
A cybercrime cell was formed by the elite force, said Khan.
