US Ambassador Earl R. Miller presented his credentials to President Md. Abdul Hamid at a ceremony in Dhaka on Thursday (Nov 29).US Ambassador Earl R. Miller presented his credentials to President Md. Abdul Hamid at a ceremony in Dhaka on Thursday (Nov 29).
He arrived in Dhaka on Nov 18 and prior to this, Ambassador Miller was sworn in as the US Ambassador to Bangladesh at the Department of State in the United States, says a press release.
Former US Ambassadors Marcia Bernicat, Dan Mozena, and the Bangladesh Ambassador to the United States, M Ziauddin were also present during the ceremony.
He emphasized that a strong US-Bangladesh relationship is in the interests of the United States and the American people, Bangladesh and the Bangladeshi people, as well as the regional and global community.
Ambassador Miller, a career member of the US Senior Foreign Service, joined the Department of State in 1987.
He served previously as US Ambassador to Botswana from 2014 – 2018.
He served previously as Consul General at the U.S. Consulate General in Johannesburg, South Africa, from 2011 to 2014.
Miller also served in Washington, San Francisco, Miami and Boston and at US embassies in El Salvador, Malaysia, Indonesia, Iraq, and India.
He was confirmed as US Ambassador to Bangladesh by the US Senate on Oct 11, 2018.
