Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Nurul Huda at a special meet on election time law and order on Thursday (Nov 22).To control law and order situation for the upcoming parliamentary elections, the army will be on the field with the police after Dec 15, said Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Nurul Huda, and added, “A small team from the military will be working to this aim.”

The CEC made the comment on Thursday (Nov 22), at a special meet on election time law and order.

Addressing police, KM Nurul Huda, said, “I did not ask you to go to the homes of voting officials to gather information about them, please refrain from doing this because such actions raise questions and embarrass the voting officials.”

If gathering information is essential then use covert methods, he added.

“Do not arrest anyone without a warrant after the declaration of the manifesto, or lodge any cases to harass anyone”

Stressing that the role of police is crucial in ensuring free, fair and neutral election, he said, “All of us will work diligently to serve the republic; but since the main duty is on the police, I will ask them to perform their duties and prevent any possible violence and clashes.”

The police need to make a strategic plan now, he said and added, “In every district, a small army unit will support the police.”

“They will support the magistrate and other law enforcing teams.”
