Birsreshtha Lance Nayek Nur Mohammad’s wife Begum Fazilatunnesa (80) has passed away.
The 81-year-old breathed her last on Wednesday (Nov 21) at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka where she was being treated for diabetes and other old-age complicacies since Oct 27.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited her at the hospital.
Fazilatunnesa, who has been living in Narail, has left behind three daughters and a son, relative Asad Rahman told Bangla Tribune.
Nur Mohammad, born in Narail on Feb 26, 1936, was a member of the then East Pakistan Rifles, now the Border Guard Bangladesh now, during the 1971 Liberation War.
He fought the war in Jessore under Sector 8 and died on Sept 5, 1971 as he sacrificed his live in a heroic fashion uring a battle with the Pakistani army at Goalhati and Chhutipur.
Bangladesh Government awarded him Birshreshtha (Most Valiant Hero), the highest insignia, recognising his heroic sacrifice during the liberation war.
