The Awami League has reported to the Election Commission to investigate whether the law permits Tarique Rahman, convicted in several cases, to interview nomination seekers from London, said its General Secretary Obaidul Quader.
Saying that the current AL coalition is a strategic one, Quader added that the nominations for the upcoming polls will be announced within a few days.
“The 14-party Alliance will be contesting the polls with the ‘boat’ logo,” he told the media on Sunday (Nov 18).
However, it’s yet to be decided whether its newest ally Juktafront will use it, he added.
The Awami League will consider aspirants’ contribution towards development in their constituencies for the party ticket, said the senior party leader.
On former AL minister AMS Kibria’s son running on Oikya Front ticket. Quader said, “He (Reza Kibria) was never part of the Awami League in the first place.”
