Bangladesh's Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commission (RRRC) chief Md Abul Kalam said, “Rohingyas will be sent back to Myanamar only if they want to go back.”
Those willing to return will be sent to Myanmar through the Ghumdhum border on Thursday afternoon, he said.
While there is reported uncertainty over repatriation, a government official said, “We are ready today to send a batch back and will do so based on their desire.”
Sources say that UNHCR talked to 50 Rohingya families on Nov 13 and 14.
On Oct 30 last, a list of 2260 Rohingyas was given to UNHCR to get an idea about the level of interest among them to go back.
