The government machinery is ready for the 11th national election to be held on Dec 23.
The transfer and posting of field level officers including district commissioner (DC), superintendent of police (SP) and upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) is almost finished.
They play very important role in holding peaceful and competitive election.
As the election schedule has been declared, any posting or transfer must be approved by the Election Commission.
Some secretaries will be retired in November and December, but some of them have already got an extension, so that they can continue their role as public servants.
Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam, who is scheduled to be retired this year, is expected to get an extension by the government.
Meanwhile, the government recently promoted a number of officials to additional secretary, joint secretary and deputy secretary level, apparently to appease them.
On Oct 24, 256 officials were promoted to deputy secretary level while on Sept 20, 154 were promoted to joint secretary level.
Earlier, on Aug 29, 163 were promoted to additional secretary level.
Last week, the government promoted 230 police officials creating supernumerary posts.
When contacted, Public Administration Secretary Faiz Ahmed said, “Posting and transfer are regular process and we have the recent change in line with that.”
