From Fajr to Esha, an Imam plays the role to stand up and pray in a Namaz at the right time. And each of these prayers, a Muezzin announces Azan and Iqamat before the Azan. If there is not the too much physical illness, then those who are engaged in these two professions keep regular responsibilities even in a storm and adverse weather. However, it is known that they choose it as a profession but the Mosque committee does not give fair salary to them. They face poverty in their daily life. The struggle is a common affair in their life. The struggle of these Imam-muezzins is more prominent to the city than in the villages. In 2006, the Ministry of Religious Affairs formed the 'Mosque Management Policy', but the committees do not follow these rules because there is no obligation.
Talking to at least 15 Imam-muezzin and Khatib in Dhaka and outside of Dhaka, it is known that the average earning of the imams is between 6 to 15 thousand takas. Muezzin's salary is 10 thousand taka. But this honorarium is given in very few mosques. For most of the mosque, the muezzin's honorarium is 5/6 thousand taka. In some village mosques, seasonal rice is given to them in the form of honorarium.
