Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda will declare the election schedule at 7 pm 0n Thursday through an address to the nation, to be broadcast by BTV and Bangladesh Betar. Private TV channels will take feed from BTV and telecast the speech.

The schedule will be finalized at the commission meet in the morning along with the draft speech.

After the meet, the government TV and radio will record the speech at the CEC’s room.

It’s believed that in the 10-12 minute long speech, CEC Nurul Huda will ask all parties to take part in elections.

He will also express the commission’s resolve to carry out the election properly. To this aim, he will seek the support of political parties, voters, law enforcers and the media.

The speech will exhort the returning and other officials to follow their duties with warnings that failure to perform as per expectation will result in severe punishment.

He will also inform the people of electoral laws and regulations highlighting the dialogue with political parties and civil society members.

Deployment of army, limited use of EVMs, submission of nominations online will also be touched plus the reason for the early declaration of schedule.
