Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been accorded reception at a thanksgiving rally organised by top Qawmi madrasa organization. 
Top clerics of Qawmi madrasas received the prime minister when she reached the venue around 10:45am on Sunday. 

Earlier, thousands started to gather at the rally venue, for the event, named the 'Shukrana Mahfil' or thanksgiving rally, organised to laud the government’s recent recognition of Qawmi madrasa education’s highest degree Takmil as equivalent to a postgraduate degree.

Students and teachers of the Qawmi Madrasas from across the country were seen gathering at the rally venue since 7am.

Hifazat-e Islam chief Shah Ahmad Shafi will preside over the event, organised by Al Haiatul Ulaya Lil-Jamiatul Kawmiya Bangladesh.

They made demands in the rally including withdrawing of cases filed over the May 5 Hefazat rally, said leaders of Haiatul Ulaya.
