His announcement came on Tuesday (Oct 30) after a meeting with Myanmar Permanent Secretary Myint Thu in Dhaka. 'We are looking forward to start the repatriation by mid-November."
Haque told the media that he and Thu will fly to Cox's Bazar to observe the repatriation issues of Rohingyas.
"Repatriation is a complex and difficult process but if there is a political will of all parties then we can have a fruitful end," said the foreign secretary.
Myanmar Secretary Myint Thu said that they had a ‘good discussion’.
“We have shown our political will, flexibility and made accommodation arrangements in order to commence repatriation at the earliest possible date.”
Thu said that his government have initiated a number of measures to ensure security for Rohingyas in Rakhine.
“We are also promoting awareness among the police and people so that returnees won’t face discrimination,” added the Myanmar official.
