Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader. FILE PHOTOMinister for road transport and bridges, Obaidul Quader, has said: Awami League’s (AL) electoral manifesto has been finalised and will be published after Oct 26.
The minister and senior AL politician made the comment while talking to the media on Tuesday (Oct 23).
The election time government will be similar to the last one, said Quader and added: “One or two new faces will come and they will be from the main opposition, but their number will be finalised at the Oct 26 joint meeting.”
After the formation of the election time government, ECNEC meets will not be held and without any emergency, cabinet meetings will be suspended, said the minister.
“The ministers of the election time government will not be able to use the national flag on their vehicles while carrying out campaigns in their area.”
However, there’s no bar in flying the flag in other areas, Quader confirmed.
He also said that election time security for ministers will remain unchanged.
“Barrister Mainul has been arrested for his individual offence and not for being an Oikkofront leader,” Quader clarified.
The veteran AL leader also ruled out the possibility of any amendments to the Digital Security Act and the Road Safety Act before elections.
But we will remain vigilant to ensure that the Digital Security Act is not abused.
