Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda has instructed election officials to work for the public’s interest, not for the political parties’.
He gave the instruction while inaugurating a training session for election officials at the Electoral Training Institute in the capital’s Agargaon on Sunday.
“Don’t take orders from politicians and political parties. Work in the interest of the masses,” said Huda.
He also said that the Election Commission (EC) is considering providing training for polling agents for the first time ahead of the 11th parliamentary election.
Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) will be introduced gradually, added Huda.
“It’s essential to bridge the gap between political parties and EC to hold a fair election,” the CEC said and advised EC officials to build rapport with politicians.
