The Detective Branch (DB) has confirmed that the three joint conveners of ‘Council for the Preservation of Bangladesh General Students’ Rights’ have left their offices.
Earlier in the day, the platform’s Convener Hasan Al Mamun claimed that Joint Conveners Nurul Haque Nuru, Faruq Ahmed and Rashed Khan were abducted by DB personnel.
Rashed confirmed Bangla Tribune that they were not detained, but the law-enforces spoke with them as part of their investigation.
Tensions ran high on the Dhaka University campus as soon as the news of the three came around 1:45pm.
Hasan said the three were taken away in a car while on their way to Chankharpul from the campus after a media call, when a two-day deadline was given to the authorities to lift the police cases against demonstrators.
They have also threatened to launch protests once again.
DB Joint Commissioner Abdul Baten told Bangla Tribune that they were brought in for some information. “They have been shown some video footages and we spoke with them. There has been no detention or arrest.”
