Newly appointed Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison wants to strengthen bilateral relations.

In a letter sent to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said, “I look forward to working with you to strengthen bilateral relationship.”

Acknowledging Bangladesh’s leadership in the response to the Rohingya crisis, he said Australia has committed $70 million for the forcibly displaced people.

Thanking Hasina, he wrote, “Thank you for your kind letter following my appointment as Prime Minister.”

Mentioning trade relation, cooperation in counter-terrorism and tackling other international crimes, he said “49,000 people of Bangladeshi descent in Australia make a highly valued contribution to Australian society.”
