PM inaugurates construction works of nine model mosques

Islam preaches for peace and a certain quarter is tarnishing the religion’s image by misinterpreting it, says Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Her remarks came on Thursday, when she inaugurated constructions works of nine model mosques and Islamic cultural centres in different places of the country under a government project.
The project aims installation of over 55o such mosques and cultural centres in every district and Upazila.
"We want a Bangladesh, where the people will believe in the spirit of secularism. Everyone will be free practice their religions,” said Hasina.
“Secularism does not mean lack of religious faith. Secularism means religious freedom and it is the main spirit of Islam," she added.
The prime minister inaugurated constructions in nine districts — Jhalkathi, Khulna, Gopalganj, Bogura, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Chattagram and Noakhali — from her official residence, the Ganabhaban.
