The foreign ministry has open initiatives to bring back 184 Bangladeshis now languishing in Libyan jails.
The International Organization for Migration will help the ministry to bring them back.
“We have already given the green light to the IOM to take necessary action in this regard,” said a foreign ministry official.
He said most of their operations are done from Tunisia as the situation in Libya is not very stable.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh mission in Tripoli published a notice on its Facebook page Tuesday warning Bangladeshis there to remain vigilant as the Libyan authorities have declared a ‘state of alert’.
Through the notice, the embassy advised Bangladeshi residents in Tripoli to restrict their movement and watchful when move around.
The embassy advised to avoid war-torn areas in Tripoli, including Gasr-ben-Gasir, Wadi Rabiya, Salahuddin, Ainjara, Hadba Masrua, Airport Road, Crimiea and Abuselim.
Bangladeshis are requested to contact embassy, if necessary, at the following hotline number +218916994207.
