Britain will continue to help Rohingya people in Bangladesh as long as it is needed.
“We will continue our support for Rohingya people in Bangladesh as long as we need to keep that support there,” said FCO and DFID Minister of State Alistair Burt in Dhaka Thursday afternoon.
He came to Dhaka on Aug 28 and visited Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar.
“My main purpose of the visit is Rohingya,” he said adding, so far, Britain has contributed 129 million pounds for the forcibly displaced people.
“United Kingdom’s principal concern— the people should be repatriated,” Burt said.
All the refugees want to go home, but they will not return unless they feel safe and secured, and their identity is being recognized, he added.
“There must not be any sense of impunity, there must be accountability for what happened, in one form or other,” he said.
