FILE PHOTOThe Commission, which investigated the US-Bangla plane crash incident, expressed dissatisfaction about the report published in Kathmandu Post today.
The Accident Investigation Commission (AIC) has serious concern and gross dissatisfaction regarding the news that was published in Kathmandu Post on 27th August, said a AIC press release issued Monday night.
It is mentionable here the Nepalese newspaper in its report claimed that Abid Sultan, pilot of the US-Bangla plane that crashed at Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport in March, killing 51 people, appears to have lied to the control tower during the landing procedure and was smoking continuously inside the cockpit. The Kathmandu Post published the report Monday quoting an official investigation led by the Nepal government.
The press release said, “The Commission would like to clarify that the investigation to find the probable cause and contributory factors of the accident is still going on.”
The sole purpose of the Accident Investigation Commission is to find out the probable cause and try to prevent further accidents of similar nature in the future, it said.
“The Commission believes that the accident investigation is not a matter of media propaganda.”
The Commission has serious objection on such kind of unethical and fraudulent news which may give wrong perception and beliefs in the public and concern people.
“It is a matter of disgrace to publish such sensitive matter, which is still under investigation and discussion within the Commission, without validating authenticity of the news from proper authority.”
The Commission would like to inform the concerned and public that the report has not been completed and published officially.
Once the report is completed, it will be made public as per the provision of the government regulation and ICAO standard.
