With the Eid-Ul- Azha later this month, prices of spices are significantly less than that of last year, said Dhaka South Mayor Md Sayeed Khokon.
“We have reviewed prices in the retail market. I can surely tell you that, prices of spices, onions, garlic and other goods are in control, compared to the previous year.”
He made the comments to media after visiting Capital’s Karwan Bazar on Thursday morning.
Speaking about measures taken to hold the rush of prices, Khokon said, “Monitoring teams will be in place everywhere. Every market will be brought under intense monitoring to an Executive Magistrate.”
“Prices of sacrificial animals are also seeing low trend this year,” he added.
Responding to a question the Mayor said, “It’s the responsibility of law enforcement agencies to prevent extortion in the market. They will also take measures if any Haat is established without leasing.”
