The worldwide death toll from Covid-19 or the novel coronavirus has surged by about 4,000 in a day to 34,005, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.
A Reuters tally on Monday puts the number of infected people more than 720,000 across the world.
Cases have been reported in more than 200 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019, it said.
In Bangladesh, the number of confirmed cases stands at 49 with five fatalities so far, the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) said on Monday (Mar 30).
