Nishika Waghela (33) breathes in oxygen mixed with aromatherapy via a nasal cannula, at an oxygen bar in New Delhi, India, November 15, 2019. REUTERSToxic air has become a part of Delhi citizens' daily lives, with the air pollution in India's capital reaching deadly levels in recent times.
However, in Saket, one man has come up with an innovative idea to give the long suffering population a breath of fresh air - literally - by opening an oxygen bar.
The best part of the deal is you do not even have to empty your pockets to get a sniff of pure air, as it can be bought at a considerably low price.
What is an oxygen bar?
According to an article published in IndiaToday recently, Oxy Pure was launched in May this year by Aryavir Kumar. The bar only offers pure oxygen at this moment - which is what the people breathing in Delhi's toxic air need more than anything.
Interestingly, the air comes in different flavours, just like your average hookah bars. Currently Oxy Pure is serving air in seven different aromas - lemongrass, organe, cinnamon, spearmint, peppermint, eucalyptus and lavender.
Bonny Irengbam, head of staff at Oxy, recently told IndiaToday.in: "We provide oxygen with different aromas for fifteen minutes by controlling the pressure of the atmosphere. It has several benefits."
How does one inhale the air? "The customer is provided with a tube and the person is required to inhale the flavoured oxygen from it," Bonny said.
However, you cannot come back for refills, Bonny added, as a person can only inhale this particular oxygen once a day for the stipulated time and not more than that.
What are the benefits?
Inhaling pure oxygen has several health and mental benefits, Bonny Irengbam said.
Not only does it energize the body, pure oxygen entering your lungs also clears the mind.
"Sleep patterns will improve, while your skin will glow," Bonny said. "It is also known to cure depression and aids in smooth digestion."
How much do you have to pay?
Oxy Pure charges Rs 299 for fifteen minutes of pure air. However, prices vary according to the flavours.
Where is it?
Oxy Pure is located at Select City Walk Mall in Saket. "The second outlet is expected to be launched soon at the Delhi Airport by December 2019," Bonny Irengbam said.
