India plans to commence BBIN motor pact with Nepal, Bangladesh

India has approached Bangladesh and Nepal through diplomatic channels for evolving modalities to operationalise the MVA among Bangladesh, India and Nepal (BIN)Pending ratification of Bhutan, India plans to operationalise BBIN motor vehicle agreement (MVA) with Bangladesh and Nepal for seamless movement of passenger and cargo vehicles, Parliament was informed today.

Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal (BBIN) had signed a framework MVA in June 2015 to enable movement of passenger and cargo vehicles across borders among the four countries.

BBIN Road PlanBhutan has not yet ratified the pact for its entry to come into force, Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways and Shipping Mansukh L Mandaviya informed the Rajya Sabha in a written reply.

"Pending ratification, however, Bhutan has given its consent for the BBIN MVA to enter into force amongst the other 3 countries i.e. Bangladesh, India and Nepal, who have already ratified it," he said.
