London Borough of Tower Hamlets is back to its normal operational mode after the UK government officially ended its intervention in the running of its council.
On Oct 4, Local Government minister James Brokenshire sent a letter to the Tower Hamlets’ Mayor John Biggs informing him of the official removal of overseeing council affairs which came into effect four years ago.
In 2014, the UK government stripped the then Mayor Lutfur Rahman of his authorities to run certain key departments of the council following an investigation.
