India’s Uttar Pradesh police are puzzled how it will be taking recruitment test for appointing 62 messengers as 3,700 PhD, 28,000 post graduates and over 50,000 graduates have applied for the post.
A Times of India newspaper reports said that the eligibility for the post is class V with a starting salary of Rs 20,000.
However, out of 93,000 applications, only 7,800 applicants have qualification between class V and class XII.
The job description of the post narrates that the messengers will deliver police telecom department’s messages from one office to another and he must know how to ride bicycle, the report said.
Different sources said lack of jobs in the market pulled so much application from the over qualified persons.
They also said it is a full-time government job, which is another reason.
An official at the department said they are planning to outsource the recruitment test to a private agency to ensure transparency and fair selection of the process.
