British-Bangladeshi students have done well in Britain’s GCSE examinations.
The results announced Thursday showed that students in Tower Hamlets, Birmingham, Manchester and other Bangladeshi concentrated areas did well in the exams.
This year the passing rate increased in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Average pass rate in the UK is 66.9% which is 0.5% higher than that of last year.
The passing grade was categorized from 9-1 for the first time in England. Four percent of the students managed to achieve grade 9 and 732 students secured 9 A’s in the exam.
Keeping up with the trend, the girls are yet again ahead of the boys, although the difference decreased a bit this year.
23.7 % girls passed the GCSE compared to 17.2% boys.
