Ziauddin hopes Bangabandhu killers to be brought back

Ambassador Mohammad Ziauddin and others.The National Mourning Day was observed in Bangladesh embassy in Washington paying homage to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, marking the 43rd anniversary of his martyrdom.

The day’s programme began with hoisting of national flag at half-mast by Ambassador Mohammad Ziauddin with the playing of national anthem.

In the evening, a discussion on the life and achievements of Bangabandhu was held.

Paying rich tributes to the memory of Bangabandhu, the ambassador said a group of disgruntled and renegade army officers committed the heinous crime in which Bangabandhu along with most members of his family was brutally assassinated.

The Ambassador hoped the convicted killers of Bangabandhu who are hiding abroad would be brought back to Bangladesh to face justice.

Deputy Chief of Mission Mahbub Hassan Saleh, Defence Attaché Brig Gen Shamsuzzaman, Minister (Press) Shamim Ahmad and Counsellor (Commerce) Sk Aktar Hossain, among others, attended the programme.

Ambassador Masud bin Momen.Meanwhile, Bangladesh permanent mission in New York also observed the day with due respect.

It organised a discussion on Bangabandhu in the evening when Ambassador Masud Bin Momen urged the expatriate to play a role to bring back the killers who are hiding in different countries.

Consul General Mohammad Monirul Islam and others.In Turkey, the Consulate General of Bangladesh in Istanbul in cooperation with Istanbul Branch Youth Wing of ruling Justice and Development Party organised a discussion.

The event was attended by as many as 200 members of the Youth Wing as well as members of Bangladesh community living in Istanbul.

Consul General Mohammad Monirul Islam recollected the unparalleled dedication, commitment and patriotism of Bangabandhu in the nation building.

Ahmet Coskunaydin, prominent media personality of Turkey and Chief Editor of Gunaydin International, said people of Bangladesh are lucky that they had a leader like Bangabandhu who showed them the dream for freedom and led from the front for the independence of the country in 1971.

Stating Bangabandhu as the icon of universal humanity, he said his visionary leadership in the long struggle of freedom will remain immortal in the world history.

Osman Tomakin, President of Istanbul branch the Youth Wing, underscored that this particular event would help them to know the true history of Bangladesh and deepen the level of understanding between the people of two friendly nations.
