A number of showbiz stars expressed solidarity in the ongoing student movement. Some of them even joined the protesters on streets. Students are protesting against existing Irregularities in the Transport system and recent death of two students.
Celebrities started demonstrating alongside students from yesterday 31st July. Police detained popular YouTube celebrity and actor-producer Salman Muktadir. He was later released. Other than Salman-
Producer SA Haque Oleek, Abdullah Rana, Sakal Ahmed, Actor Monira Mithu, Rownok Hasan, Jyotika Jyoti, Orsha, Nadia, Tousif Mahbuub, Nowshaba and Singer Pritam Hasan expressed solidarity in the movement.
Among them, Oleek, Rana, Rownok, Monira, Momo, Nowshin Nahrin Mou, Tousif, Orsha, Sakal and Nadia Joined the students in Uttara. Jyotika and Nowshaba were seen in Shahbagh.
Salman Muktadir got himself detained yesterday evening when he expressed solidarity in Abdullahpur area. He was seen speaking to cops on the students behalf on facebook live. Police apprehended him alleging that his presence was causing unrest. He was later released.
We couldn’t reach Salman to discuss about the incident. However, he was seen with the students today as well. This time in Mirpur. Salman’s coworker actor Tousif Mahbub confirmed about his brief detention.
Tousif told Bangla Tribune that he was attending the demonstration today (Wednesday) in Uttara.
Singer Pritam Hasan joined the students in Badda area at around 11 am Wednesday. He said that, police resorted to Baton Charge on the students.
“Police is very aggressive; Baton Charging continuously. Then they pushed us away.”
On 29th July, Two college students Dia Khanam Mim and Abdul Karim Rajiv lost their lives after being run over by a Jabal e Noor Bus. That incident triggered massive protest that has entered its 4th day on Wednesday.
