Curtain to fall on Salman Shah birth anniversary celebration on Sept 26

The weeklong film screenings being held at Modhumita cinema hall to commemorate the birth anniversary of iconic actor Salman Shah is coming to an end on Wednesday (Sept 26).
The film festival will come to an end with screening of the actor’s 1996 hit “Shotter Mrittu Nai,” which was released seven days after his untimely death.
Directed by Chotku Ahmed and jointly written by Chotku Ahmed and Panaullah Ahmed, the film also starred actors Shabana, Alamgir, Shahnaz, Raisul Islam Asad and Rajib.
As part of the beloved actor’s birth anniversary, Dhooli Communications arranged the screenings of six of Salman Shah’s most popular films.
The program was inaugurated in a star-studded event on Sept 19 and the curtain was raised with five screenings his first movie and 1993 box office smash hit ‘Keyamat Theke Keyamat,’ on Friday (Sept 20).
The screenings featured ‘Tomake Chai’ on Sept 21, ‘Mayer Odhikar’ on Sept 22, ‘Chawa Theke Pawa’ on Sept 23, ‘Shwapner Prithibi’ on Sept 24, and ‘Ontore Ontore’ on Sept 25. Tickets are priced at Tk 100 and Tk 150.
All the screenings of the films saw Madhumita cinema hall teeming with audience proving that Salman Shah’s popularity knows no end decades after his death.
“It was an amazing experience for us. The response that we got from people was phenomenal,” Dhooli Communications Managing Director Mahmood Manzoor.
“I want to specially thank TM Films, Madhumita cinema hall, Gaan Bangla and the media people who made the celebrations successful,” he added.
He said that Dhooli Communications was already making plans for grand celebration of Salman Shah’s 50th birth anniversary.
In his career of three years, Salman Shah acted in 27 films that brought him unprecedented popularity and commercial success.
Arguably one of the most popular and beloved 90s actor, he died in 1996 under mysterious circumstances.
