She chose to stay out of the spotlight and have been living in Kolkata.
The good news is she is back in Dhaka at the invitation of Bangladesh Film Artist Association, Dhaliwood Hero and the forum’s General Secretary Zayed Khan said.
Anju, a popular actress of the 80s landed arrived in Dhaka on Thursday (Sept 6).
Khan told Bangla Tribune, “She has come to Dhaka after more than two decades at our association’s invitation. I went to meet her at her relative’s place, where she is staying.”
“I think the Dhaka film industry needs accomplished artists like her. That’s the reason we invited her and we are extremely happy that she accepted it,” he added.
Khan also said that Anju Ghosh is scheduled to pay a visit to FDC on Sept 9 where she will be welcomed with a reception by the association.
“She will appear at a media call before leaving for Kolkata on Sept 10,” he said.
Admired actress Anju Ghosh used to dance and sing for the Bholanath Opera of Brahmanbaria before independence.
She debuted in the silver screen with the 1982 movie “Showdagor”. The film, a commercial success, made Anju Ghosh a star overnight.
She starred in 14 films in the year 1987 that did rather well in the box office at a dull period of the industry.
Her ‘Beder Meye Josna’ went about breaking records in its way to become one of the most commercial successes of Dhaliwood.
Her popularity saw a downtrend since 1991 when new faces started to emerge in the industry.
A few years later, she went to India and started to star at Kolkata films. Her last stint as an actress was with Vishwa Bharati Opera.
