Purnima has completed her 20 years of acting career as a heroine. In 1997, she stood in front of the camera as a heroine for the first time in a film named ‘A Jibon Tomar Amar’ by   Zakir Hossain Raju.  

On May 15, 1998, this film was released. Though, her first film was ‘Shotru Ghayel’. There she performed as a child artist in a character named ‘Rita’. she got in the lap of Rubel in the last scene of that film. Surprisingly, her first hit film was ‘Joddha’ where she acted with Rubel.

In ‘Star Night’ a regular Eid Program of Maasranga Television, Purnima told many stories like this about her career. Recently the shooting of this program finished.

Purnima also said there was a time when I used to collect view cards with pictures of Moushumi, Shabnoor and Salman Shah. She said why she keeps ahead the Shabnur-Riaz pair than Purnima-Riaz pair.  Purnima became emotional at one stage of the program while talking about late film hero Manna.

She said, 'If he comes back again, I will embrace him crying. I will tell him not to go away from us further.'
