Three killed in Rangamati building collapse

Rangamati building collaspeAn under-construction building collapse has killed three people and injured two others in Rangamati sadar.



The incident occurred near Rangamati Mohila College area around 12:30pm on Sunday (June 2).
Locals said, “Eleven workers were working on the construction site of teacher Parveen Akhter’s house when the collapse happened.”
“The three dead bodies were recovered from the site and sent to Rangamati Sadar Hospital,” said Udayan Chakma, station officer of Rangamati Fire Service.
The deceased were identified as: Pappu, around 17, Shintu Miah, 40, and Ankor Ali, 65. All three came from Dharmapasha upazila of Sunamganj district in Sylhet.
The injured were Saiful and Sobuj Miah.
Rangamati Deputy Commissioner AKM Mamunur Rashid said: “A case will be filed against the building owner for doing such illegal construction work."
