Bangladesh tells Facebook to comply with local laws

“Facebook has to ensure a secure platform for our citizens, our society and our country,” Telecoms and IT Minister Mustafa Jabbar was quoted by the BSS.

His remarks came during a meeting with Facebook Global Policy Solution Vice President Richard Allan and Head of Policy for South Asia Ashwani Rana on the sidelines of the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, reports the state news agency.

 “You have to run the contents and other issues in line with the law of Bangladesh,” Jabbar told the social media site officials.

Citing a statement by the telecoms and IT ministry, the BSS report said that the Facebook officials assured the minister of comply with local laws before highlighting their global standard in publishing contents.
