If all parties agree, end users may get the service free of cost for the first three months.
The telecommunication ministry’s ICT Division initiated the ‘Info-Sarker Project Phase (III)’ to make broadband internet available at the union-level across Bangladesh.
The nationwide telecommunication transmission network (NTTN) companies along with the ICT Division are implementing the project under the public-private partnership (PPP) model.
Meanwhile, State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak has called all parties whether they can provide the internet service to the rural area’s subscribers for the first three months at free of cost.
Palak made the call at a recent meeting with representatives of the NTTN companies and internet service providers (ISPs) association.
Owners of the ISPs, however, expressed their willingness on the matter whereas the NTTTs companies are yet to respond, sources at the meeting told Bangla Tribune.

“If the NTTN companies do not charge the transmission cost then the ISPs can provide services for three months,” General Secretary of Internet Service Providers Association Bangladesh (ISPAB) Imdadul Haque told Bangla Tribune.
At present, bandwidth with 20 gigabits per second (Gpbs) speed stands ready at the unions, which the ISPs can use to provide internet facility to the rural area.
