Microsoft Corp has been awarded a five-year contract worth $1.76 billion for delivering enterprise services for the Defense Department, Coast Guard and intelligence services, the Pentagon said on Friday.

The US Department of Defense headquarters also said that GE Medical Systems Information Technologies Inc, a unit of General Electric Co, has been awarded a $450 million defense contract for patient monitoring systems, accessories and training.
